Advanced Geochromatic Studies continues an open-ended inquiry into color and its representation in science, pseudo-science, and the spiritual. The focal points of the exhibition are two large color altars each incorporating wall prints, plinths, and new video pieces, Circles in Circles (Color Meditation) & Analogue Color Therapy (Birren). The work builds on elements from our 2020 exhibition, Intermediate Geochromatic Studies, and incorporates various handmade paperworks as well as a new series of handmade beaded talismans, Circles in Circles, produced in our kitchen-turned-studio during quarantine. As part of a larger curricular sequence, the Advanced Geochromatic Studies explores both rational and irrational applications of color in the context of historical precedence and speculative interpretation.
Three videos related to the exhibition are available for viewing on VIMEO.
